I'm really pleased to have published my first solo large scale print run project: Bloody Hell. Its a zine all about menstruation. This project was a lot of hard work to orchestrate on my own but in turn was really rewarding. The pieces in this zine were submitted from a variety of people who menstruate. I launched a successful crowd funding campaign (with a lot of help from friends in promoting it and getting the coverage which meant it ended up in national newspapers and featured everything from The Guardian to Cosmo). It's be a really privileged to work on this non-profit project and share some amazing stories with this zine. You can see more images here: www.soofiya.com/bloody-hell
Just a note, the remaining copies of the zine will be sold at zine fairs in and around the UK.

Takeover 2015
Yesterday, I exhibited at Takeover2015, selling a few prints and zines. It was a really great day and I met some fantastic people in the process. The highlight would have to be taking part in the Bread and Roses Book Award Art Exhibition.

Smash the State!
I recently illustrated a smashy little poster and had it risographed in lovely fluoro pink and orange from Hato Press. I'll be selling this alongside some other snazzy risographed posters including Bowie and Henna themed prints at Alt Press and London Radical Bookfair Takeover 2015. Takeover will be full of awesome zines, prints and radical DIY goodies, its happening on May 9th from 12-7pm and can really recommend paying a visit.
Also you can vote for the Smash the State poster as part of the Guardian's 'Alternative Election Poster' call out.

All the colours!
Colourful clothes, paper and fluoro tape inspired my current project on Zines. Here's a little preview of the mess of ugly colours which await.

Computer Arts Feature
In this month's Computer Art's magazine, if you turn to page 106, you can see a feature on Creative Inspirations for A Book for Two. It was great to see the project in print, especially in a magazine I've been reading since I first discovered graphic design. So, get down to your local newsagents and pick up a copy!

Risographing
Yesterday I went back to Bolt Editions, to do some more Risographing, this time I really wanted to use textures especially after seeing how well the Riso picked the last time. I created another cliche Bowie print (available to purchase from here). Next time I'm hoping to really play around with layering colours.

Shop!
I've just launched a shop where you can buy some of my prints and work. I'll slowly be filling it up in the next few month. For now there's a current print up for sale, in an signed edition of 50.

Riso
Last month myself and fellow designer, Charlotte, decided to visit Bolt Editions and set ourselves a short two-day project, we wanted to use their Risograph to really experiment with the printing process. I created a fluro pink poster fold CV as a nice little send-out and we both collaborated on a hand lettered poster.
Update: I've loved my time at Ravensbourne, but one thing which I felt I really missed is printing and traditional processes (like letterpress, screenprinting and risographing), so this poster is highlighting that, as it's risographed (which is sort of an old school technique compared) that and this is sort of an in-joke between us Rave alumni. I can assure, I'm a Ravensbourne-er through and through! ;)

Cat Skirt
I stumbled across an amazing 'Kitty Garden Party' skirt over on etsy (the one with the kickstarter campaign) and loved it. But when you add shipping and customs, we've looking at paying a ridiculous amount for a skirt. So if you can't buy it, make it. (Actually even if you can buy, make it anyway.) Ravensbourne has some great digital fabric printers and large heat presses, so after knocking up possibly my most garish piece of design it was printed and heat pressed onto fabric and then sewn to create the most awesome skirt known to mankind.
